Danielle, Lindsay and Stacy got absolutely no sleep Sunday night...instead, they left the house at 3:30 AM to catch a 5:30 train to NYC to try to see Paula on the Today Show, The View and The Late Show. After our train lost "power signals" about 20 times, we finally got to NYC two hours later.
We then hauled-ass (lol) to the Today Show where we had no idea where to find her. We went to where all the people were, when they have concerts outside and stuff but Paula was already inside. Lindsay caught a glimpse of Paula and her assistant/hair stylist Dennis coming inside through a window, while Stacy and Dani were still searching around. We then find an entrance to stand at and wait for Randy and Paula to get done with their interview. We see Randy, and call out his name. We told him to look at our sign which said "Team Abdul Loves Paula & Randy" and he loves it. We then show him our Paula shirts and he was like "Where's mine!!!" and we told him we'd make one for him too. He walked over to talk to a few other people and then we call him over to get a picture with him and he's like, "Sure, I'll get a picture with the Team!!!" He was really nice. We then said how we couldn't wait to get his CD tomorrow and that we loved his new dance show, in which he seemed really happy about and told us thank you and leaves.
We then see Dennis, and we yell out his name to get his attention. Dani says, "I have your business card!" and Dennis quickly comes over to us. We tell him that we were the girls from the Philly auditions and he automatically remembered us. Dani goes over to him and tells him to feel how cold her hands are (because it was like 30*) and Dennis was like "WHOAH!" and then he got into the car.
After that, we hear that Paula is about to come out. She finally does, and we get her attention by telling her to look at our shirts...but she looks up at the sign, lol. This part is all in the video that we got J http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CM9uOV_BDWY
She loved the shirts and asked for one, like Randy did. Dani then asked Paula if she could get a picture with all of us and Paula says yes, of course. Dani proceeds to tell Paula like dumbass that she's cold (lol) and Paula goes, "awww sweetie, I know you're cold." She sounded like SUCH a mom. Then Paula was like, "wait...*does double-take*...How are you sweetie!!!" basically saying that she remembered her. We all get together finally for a picture (after being separated lol) and Paula UNZIPS OUR ZIPDOWNS and moves the fabric out of the way so you can see the graphic on the shirt. Oddest experience ever, needless to say...LOL. Then Paula is like "OOH! I've always wanted to take a picture like this!" and kneels in front of us on the ground. After the picture, we show her that we brought her a photo album that Lindsay put together of all the times we met her. She seemed excited to see it, as you can sort of hear in the video. Lindsay asks Paula to sign it and Paula says that "we have plenty of time." Paula goes, "So, do you like the new song?" and Dani said "uh..YEAH!" in which Paula mock-replies her "uh...yeaaahhh!" (I can't exactly explain how she sounded lol). She then asked if I liked the video and I said "of course, you look amazing!!! My friends love the song too" and she said that was great or something. We asked her if she was doing the View, and she says yes while her assistant says that they need to go. Paula tells her assistant, "One minute, okay?" and goes and signs some autographs. We figured that she was about to leave, so we were like, "Okay, we love you!" and Paula was like "HOLD ON, GIRLS!!!" and we're like, "WHAT?! Oh, okay!" Then Paula signs this guy's jacket (it said "I'm forever your girl" and her signature) and takes some pictures.
Paula's assistant says, "Okay, we gotta go!!!" again and Paula says, "I wanna...can I look at the book while I'm in the car?" and we were like...um..."okay, do you want us to meet you at the View?" (because she signed the book so we figured were going to get it back, lol). Paula says, "You can come and I'll give it back to you at the View." So we end up meeting this guy who actually used to be on MTV back in the early 90s with Julie Brown and he took the subway with us to show us how to get to the View. He was SUPER nice to us, it was really great. We get to the View and go where he told us to go in order to catch Paula coming in. Somehow, ironically, something got in the way of that so we figured we'd wait around until her interview was over. We ended up going to a pizza place down the road, asking them if they could turn on ABC on the tv and watched it there until the interview was over. We then walked back to where we were supposed to be and waited. Paula's car pulls up, Dennis sees us and gets out of the car and greets us. Paula rolls down her window, and is bombarded by this annoying 15 year old kid who gets autographs and sells them on ebay. We then get our time with her, and Dani goes, jokingly, "Um, Paula you totally stole our photo album!!!" and she was like, "no, no no!!!" and Dani was like "I'm just joking!" and Paula was like pouting, and saying, "But I really want it...can I have it????" (it was adorable lol, how could we resist?!)and we were like, "Okay, whatever, sure!!!" She then said that she keeps everything her fans give her, which is awesome and that she still has the old albums we gave her and that she loves them.
We told her about the pizza place and watching the interview there and said, "Paula, we have 2 words about that interview...PHE-NOMENOL!" She got a kick out of that, along with her assistants who were in the car with her. Dennis said that we are "Too much!" joking around. Dani then told her that her fans approve of JT and said that he's handsome, in which Paula pretty much got all shy and smiled like she always does in interviews when he's brought up. It was cute. Paula was then almost about to have to go, and we asked Dennis if she was doing Letterman still. He nodded. Paula then, goes, "I'll see you guys later, then!" and when she was about to leave, she said in her mom voice again, "Go get some heavier coats for when I see you next!!!" and as she's rolling up the window she goes, "they're on sale now!!!!" and Dani said her mom would probably be angry at her for not wearing a heavy coat, lol. We then took a cab into Times Square to go to H&M to see if we could find cheap coats, haha. As we were walking, we pass by a fancy restaurant and see an oddly familiar looking car. We all of a sudden realize its PAULA's FREAKING CAR with her driver inside. We figured she was inside the restaurant and thought that that was so ironic. We went to a store around the corner, and bought some really cute dog clothes for Paula's dogs instead coats for us...haha.
We finally get to Letterman and only a few people are there. More people start coming, mostly for Jim Carey and stuff. It got really crowded for him and we could barely see him enter the building. By the time Paula was about to get there, we run into Dennis who kids around with us a bit. He jokingly says, "You guys are too much! You've followed us around all day *he laughed*...I should start following you all around! *smiles*" Then he talked to the driver about how we "followed Ms. Abdul around all day." It was funny. As we were waiting, Paula's car was parked right in front of us. We notice that the bag we gave her with the gifts we got her is in her backseat and looked like it had been gone through. (the tissue paper was pushed down and stuff lol). There's also a Randy CD in the front seat.
We wait and wait, as a crowd around us gets bigger and bigger. We have no idea where all the people came from but it was so annoying because people weren't standing behind the gates like they were supposed to. By the time Paula gets outside, there were so many people. She signs some autographs at the front of the line then tries to make her way back by us but stops because she is overwhelmed by all the people cutting in line and jumping towards her.
We were pissed to say the least at the people there. You can hear Dani in the background of the video, LOL. Stacy held up the bag of the dog clothes up to Paula and says, "Paula, this is the dogs for your clothes!" and then corrects herself, LOL. Paula then says, "You're so sweet, thank you so much! Thank you girls for the pictures and for everything." Insane day. We still can't believe it!!!!
